But didn’t obama win last two elections?

Yes.

Also, Sink carried this district (the county is the district) in her failed gubernatorial bid.

And even though the seat was held by a republican for many years, Pinellas county is quite liberal and democrat Sink was expected to win.

The county is home to the old St. Petersburg Times (now the Tampa Bay Times) one of the most liberal newspapers in the nation. The editors there never met a democrat they couldn't gladly endorse.

But I thought that the damage done by Obamacare would throw the election to republican Jolly and by a fairly good margine.
He did take the win but not by as much as I had hoped.

I would have liked to see a clearer signal from voters that Obamcare was not just a factor, but a huge factor.

The liberal and gay vote is still strong. They love their leader in Washington and still turn out to support the movement. I am not local but saw friends and area businesses going all in for Sink. The left is not suppressed. We are winning over more in the middle, but the turnout on the left remains high.

Based on the numbers for Sink in the 2010 election, posted above by Norseman in #158, she went from a 6 point win to a 2 point loss. That is a good drop, though it would have been great if the gap was 10 points or more. The libertarian candidate drew away a nice chunk of votes, but I think there are a lot of liberals in that group.
