It seems only fair to post Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s response to the foofaraw started by the quote I posted about below [1]. McConnell tells my friends over at Truth Revolt [2] that he is not attacking the Tea Party at all. Rather he feels that the Senate Conservatives Fund is a fake, pretending to support conservatism while undermining it. Here’s the quote:
Ive always been and continue to be a big supporter of the Tea Party and the conservative change its bringing to Washington. One of the biggest obstacles to that change, however, is the Senate Conservatives Fund, a rogue political operation that has co-opted the Liberty movement for its own enrichment to the detriment of the conservative cause. This is a point that I have been making repeatedly and energetically over the past several months, because in my view this group has deceived a lot of good people. They claim to share our goals but undermine them at every turn. I think they should be stopped, and I dont mind saying so.
This needs to be taken seriously because A) Ann Coulter suggested as much in the talk with Sean Hannity [3] I posted about earlier and B) it’s plausible someone would do that for any number of reasons.
The original New York Times story [4] in which McConnell said he was going to crush the opposition made it seem the senator was making a “move to stamp out challenges from the right,” as the headline said. But McConnell’s argument is instead that these challenges are fakes. That doesn’t necessarily mean the primary candidate himself is fake, but it could mean he’s been put in play for reasons of pure profit or even to aid the Democrats. As I mentioned, McConnell has a fight on his hands in the main election.
There are things that McConnell has done that I disagree with strongly, but he is definitely NOT a RINO that’s just unfair. The American Conservative Union [5] routinely ranks him near the top but, if that’s too swishy for you, the Heritage Action for America [6] scorecard gives him an 80 percent, which may not be Ivory Conservative Soap, but it’s pretty good, especially from HAA. I mean, again as I said in my first post, no one should be primarying the guy. If you’re really going to be messing with Republicans at this crisis moment, primary someone in the John McCain (43%) range. Better yet, save your fire for the party that single-handedly brought you ObamaCare.
Anyway, McConnell should’ve been clearer in his original statement, but perhaps I should blame the way the Times played it. In any case, we really do have to try not to be stupid. There are two halves to the circle in a circular firing squad. One half is made of politicians without principle, the other is made of voters without good sense. Leftists claim their good intentions justify their crappy results. Republican voters don’t have that luxury.
So you’re a friend of Mitch, eh?
Mitch is not talking about US in the Tea Party! He means everyone else in the Tea Party, clearly. Only a simpleton cannot understand what Mitch meant. Bob
C’mon Woofie, get real. Mitch has stabbed us in the back on many issues, including increasing the debt ceiling, funding Obamacare and amnesty. He loathes Constitution-loving citizens. If he lived in New York, he’d be running as a Democrat. You can trust him as far as you could Arlen Specter and Jim Jeffords. Bob
That is a typical comment of you guys
I haven’t followed Mitch Mc Connell at all (perhaps because Im in a state far far away) and I don’t give a damn if he wins or not in the primaries. I do want the Republicans to regain the Senate however... whatever that takes.
I also believe that FR should attempt to once again discuss the issues instead of calling people names . Whether Mitch is truthful or not about all this I don’t have a clue but the article makes some good points.
And if any of you want to think instead of strut around telling us how CONSERVATIVE you are you might address the points in the article.
Please! Ann Coulter destroyed her credibility with conservatives a long time ago!
RE: Please! Ann Coulter destroyed her credibility with conservatives a long time ago!
Not on the issue of immigration. I think she has been quite SOLID on that front.
Republican first, Conservative distant second, eh?
And what do you mean by "you guys?"
Are you saying that you're not one of us Conservative "guys?"
We're all on to that game now.
What part of:
Taxed
Enough
Already
Don’t you understand?
TEA partiers believe most of the same things conservatives do but prioritize out of control spending and taxes as the main issue. All TEA partiers are conservatives but not all conservatives are TEA partiers. Most federal Republicans and all RINOs are neither due to their “reaching across the aisle” to aide Tax-and-Spend Democrats’ for the last 20 years!. If the Republican party adhered to fiscal conservatism there would be a lot less “RINO!”s and no TEA party.
all anyone needs to do to judge McConnels defense, which is that he is ONLY attacking the Senate Conservatives Fund, is to look at the candidate support track record of the group, compared to who the GOP-e senate fund was supporting, going back through a number of election cycles
and determine on our own
how many of the candidates backed by the Senate Conservatives Fund, win or lose, were “rouges” and how many backed by the GOP-e fund were RINOS

Well, let’s think back to not long ago when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid unilaterally decided for the first time in U.S. History to trigger the “nuclear option” by allowing the confirmation of federal judges to pass on a simple majority vote, thereby rendering the minority party (Republicans) powerless in their constitutional duty to block objectionable and derelict judges. This in essence instantly transformed the Senate from its long standing tradition as a deliberative legislative body, as our Founding Fathers intended, to a rubber stamp machine for the ruling party (Democrats).
And instead of taking to the Senate floor in fiery outrage and vowing to use any and every parliamentary procedure at his disposal to grind the Senate to a halt until this abominable use of the nuclear option was lifted, what does Mitch McConnell do? Well, he just hangs his head and solemnly comments how “saddened” he is by this development.
Come on, really?! Is this anyone’s idea of strong, principled, conservative, Constitutional Republican leadership?! How are we EVER going to reverse our nation’s rapid trajectory into full-fledged European-style socialism and Marxism if our so-called “leaders” are willing to be nothing but doormats for Democrat boots???
McConnell’s a liar.
Maybe so but he may be right about Senate Conservatives Fund. It certainly merits attention.
Bullcrap!
Who do you work for?
Absolute CRAP. the writer is an IDIOT apologist. McRino needs to be DESTROYED
Mitch is a lying evil fraud. We are about to lose our Republic and the POS MM does not care.
Listen to Mark Levin's show from yesterday. He carefully went through a detailed documented account of how MM has over time continuously worked to sabotage ALL Conservative efforts to limit government. It was an eye-opening account presented by Mark -- showed how utterly evil is the wimpy Mitch.
MM is an evil Statist. He is the epitome of the slimy, duplicitous scumbag.
Klavan nailed it. Lefties have to be happy with what they have done to us, or with what we have allowed when our baser selves take over. Now our challenge is to step back, take a deep breath, and look with new eyes at where we are right now and how to get to the next step, not allowing the good to be our enemy of the perfect. Maximus Ronaldus’s famous 11th Commandment, remember. Bevin seems to be a good one too. Nobody I know is calling Rand Paul a RINO even though he backs McConnell, and rightfully so, he isn’t. When you get Heritage and the ACU saying you have some good chops, we should listen a little closer with our minds, not allowing our emotions to stampede. Lets win
Bullcrap!
Who do you work for?
I work for The People’s Republic of the Communist Party of Bangladesh. Get a grip of yourself. Lighten up, Timber.
Who do you work for?
I don’t know much about this Senate Conservatives Fund but a lot of liberal organizations pose as being more conservative. If they are truly a conservative group, I sure hope they do a better job of selecting candidates than the Tea Party Express did. That gave us more Reid, Coons, and Murkowski.

So Run-to-the-Rear McConnell was promoting conservatism by backing Trey Grayson while the Senate Conservatives Fund was opposing conservatism by supporting Rand Paul? And the SCF was “pretending to support conservatism while undermining it” in supporting Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and Toomey?
McConnell is as big a liar as is the ObaMessiah.
Support Matt Bevin to send McConnell to the Big Government Republican Senatorial Squish Retirement Home.
