Elsewhere it says it’s a boeing 777-200ER. They have a max range of 8800 miles at maximum weight and maximum fuel. 7.5 hours of fuel would get it at cruising speed of 550 mph about 4100 miles. Somalia is a bit less than 4000 miles away.
Yes, my husband said *maybe* they could just make it to Somalia when we were looking at the maps a few days ago..
That sounds about right, except it wouldn’t average 550mph. Take off and ascent, along with the time to descend for landing would probably take it under 4000 miles.
Maybe it’d have enough fuel to get there, maybe not. BUT, I don’t think a passenger/hijacker could bet on it.
