UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- The head of the organization that monitors the nuclear test ban treaty said Monday he has asked its experts to see if they detected an explosion at high altitude of the missing Malaysian Airlines plane.
Lassina Zerbo, executive director of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization told a news conference that the CTBTO uses "infrasound" - or infrasonic sensors - to monitor the earth mainly for atmospheric nuclear explosions....

I don’t think is such a thing, PAR.
I think it is possible it rerouted and landed somewhere, we may not know a thing though for a long time.
Yeah, I figured it was a “Turd World” thing. It’s a little frightening to think these planes just go in whatever direction and altitude they please, without somebody notifying somebody of the turn.
“Hey, I’m doing a 180!” seems like more than just a polite comment. This plane could be anywhere in the damned ocean.
It would need specific equipment, which commercial airliners wouldn’t have.
So, based on what we know, here are the options(yes, some are far fetched)
1. Sudden disintegration due to structural failure [no debris]
2. Terrorist bomb [See #1, and no one credible has come forward]
3. Surface to air missile [in a 777, pilot(s) should have seen something on radar and [See #1]
4. Air to air missile via stealth aircraft [See #1]
5. low level thermonuclear attack [would leave no debris on direct hit, but would have left an obvious heat/gamma signature]
6. Plane hickjacked, taken below radar level, landed elsewhere. [plausible, but flew crew who have the ability to warn ATC that something was wrong]
7. passengers and crew told prepare for emergency landing, pilots fly plane below radar and land at remote location. [In both cases of 6 & 7, it’s kinda hard to hide a 777 from satellites (even on the ground - unless there’s a big hangar near by)]
8. New Next Gen Weapon - the kinda stuff Tom Clancy used to write fiction about [See #5]
9. Debris found, official cover-up for whatever reason [Too many countries with competing interests to keep everyone quiet]
10. I’m stumped. This isn’t an old DC-10 we’re talking about. This is state of the art 777. Even if it blew up, there’s should be a signature somewhere. As the communications officer stated on Star Trek (everything’s gotta have a tailpipe). In other words, every flying craft leaves a signature.
They don't, they fly as cleared and report if they have to deviate, when they can.
This plane could be anywhere in the damned ocean.
The likelihood is still the Gulf of Siam(Thailand) although there was reporting they are also looking at the N end of the Straits of Malacca .
Yeah, that’s quite a bit of area to cover, but I thought that the ocean there wasn’t that deep. I’m just really surprised with all of the navies and planes looking for them, that nothing has been found yet.
Funny, I never cared for that particular Bond movie, because I thought it was too gimmicky and cheesy. Now it is not so far-fetched to wonder if Blofeld is holding a meeting right now. Hope the guy in the passport-purchasing department didn’t skim a little off the top. ;)
Any breakup there will be debris. SAM, not necessarily any radar data. #4 wouldn’t have to be stealth because of the radar coverage. #10 is very likely but not as likely as they haven’t found anything yet.
The original area was about the size of Kentucky in area. All the ships need to be coordinated to get max efficiency in a surface search. Lots of things in the waters around there.

I’d say they’ll be able to prove alien abduction as well as they can prove anything else.
There was an expert on TV today that showed what would happen if a cabin door flew off. He said the in rush of air would likely cause others holes. The air is -66 degrees and as it rushed in it would be a thick fog and the pilots wouldn’t have time to react. He said this would scenario would take about 6 seconds.
They’re saying the airplane turned. So you may be on to something.

A pilot on TV tonight said lots of pilots turn the auto pilot on at 400 feet and don’t turn it back on until they’re almost on the runway.
There is none.

A2A refueling may look easy but it’s not.
You need to find another TV station to watch.
Cabin doors can't do that due to the way they are built/shaped, the door comes inside to close and is smaller on the outside than the inside so it fits like a wedge in the fuselage and is locked in place not only by the latch mechanism but also by pressure inside the cabin.
Who ever that "expert" was ain't no exspurt on aircraft.
Plus the Pilot/Co-Pilot are in the Flight deck with another door separating them from the Main Cabin.
First of all, it was Fox. Second, remember the aircraft that had a piece of the plane fly off and had to land on Guam, I think. A few passengers and a flight attendant were sucked out. A mechanic had not latched it down correctly. So, maybe I heard him wrong. Maybe he didn’t say “door”. And I didn’t know the flight deck was behind airtight doors.
Birds flew in the engine again. Damn bird flu!
