I doubt it would happen if it crashed into the sea. Blowing up is different because small objects survive explosions, but then going down into the ocean...
This is strange to say the least, that it would ring, unless the explosion propelled it far enough to land on dry land.
If that phone was in water it would be dead. Strange.
What if it was in a waterproof protective case?
Or there’s an air pocket somewhere.
