That was an important idea brought out yesterday that too many illegals water down pay for everyone leading even liberals who actually want a living wage above politics to oppose immigration. Tough sell on their side.

Legal immigration also drives down wages. If we had a real shortage of labor, wages would be going up, not down.

I think that’s only true if legal immigration is held at the numbers we have now. If there was a pause for a few years on any immigration at all “after the borders were sealed” and then maybe 5-10k per year were let in only on their merits, I think it would work for the country instead of against.
