Full Title:Obama Surgeon General Pick Wants Doctors to Ask Patients About Guns in Home Include Info in Obamacare Database
Vivek was the co-founder and president of Doctors for America, which began as Doctors for Obama in 2008.
Vivek also wants doctors to ask patients, including children, if there are any firearms in their home. This would be included on their file that would be shared with several government agencies under Obamacare. Investors Business Daily reported:
Murthy is the 36-year-old president and co-founder of the anti-gun group Doctors for America, which advocates ObamaCare and gun control laws.
His group, which has been dubbed Docs vs. Glocks, has pushed Congress to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
He also wants to spend more tax dollars on more research to prove that fewer guns mean a lower crime rate, despite the fact that a number of reputable studies prove the opposite.
At a recent hearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Sen. Lamar Alexander inquired about Murthys social media comments on firearms, such as this tweet before the 2012 presidential election: Tired of politicians playing politics w/ guns, putting lives at risk b/c theyre scared of NRA. Guns are a health care issue.
Murthys Twitter timeline is chock-full of his anti-firearms screeds.
NRA press conference disappointing but predictable blame everything in the world except guns for the Newtown tragedy. #wakeup, he tweeted in December 2012.
Doctors for America has also promoted the invasion of privacy by doctors by allowing them to ask patients if they have guns at home, including asking children if their parents own guns, and pushing back against Florida Gov. Rick Snyders decision to sign into law a bill prohibiting doctors there from asking the question.

Are you bullsh^^ing me?
Screw this. As a physician I will just refuse to comply. Shove it up you ass, facsists.
Isn’t he cute in his Brigham and Women’s white coat.
“Just my science project.”
Now there is the face of a man who should be familiar with scrubbing a toilet.
With his head.

That is a political question.
I do not answer political question posed by a doctor.
Me either... or NOYB (none of your business.

Proof that it is nopt aboput safety and certainly not about honesty. It is about pushing a personal agenda.
I would give the easiest answer since it wouldn’t be under oath.
But shocking that they’d expect to use doctors as spying devices.
We are but units of measure to them - taxpaying devices, voting devices, who, when we are no longer of use to the state will face expulsion from the state - via our “health” care system. Of course....this will all just be for the benefit of the whole. /s
These people are monsters!
One answer might be, I don’t have a quarter of the guns my liberal neighbors have. And they have dynamite and hand grenades too. Would you like their names and addresses?
I had to go to the ER few months ago and the clerk asked me that question and I said NO. I could tell the clerk was embarass. He told me “I am sorry to ask you this but I have to”.
Some months ago a FReeper posted a very good comment about getting past the discomfort many people have with lying.
Simply that we are under no moral obligation to answer questions [honestly] that are asked by dishonest, immoral characters who have no business asking such questions in the first place. They are up to no good, trying to exploit people who value honesty and integrity in order use their good character against them.
These government agents are no different than thieves who demand PINs to the debit cards or the officials who asked God-fearing citizens if there were any Jews in their homes.
And another thing, these "health professionals" obviously aren't in the business of putting patients' health first. They work for those who pay them, bowing to the demands of their masters. Patients intuitively perceive the danger so no wonder they end up lying about all sorts of truly relevant things "just to be on the safe side".
Idiots who clamor for socialized medicine make the fatal mistake of assuming that the collective that pays the bill cares if patients live. Or they figure that their fellow travelers in the industry will somehow provide.
If "firearms safety" were truly the purpose for the invasive questions (isn't that what they always claim?), there would be NO NEED for the invasive question. After all, any patient may encounter guns/gun owners at any time... friends, family members, etc. Or in the time between routine appointments, a patient or family member in the home may choose to purchase a firearm. Gee then, wouldn't *everyone* benefit from these important safety tips? Ownership specifics shouldn't matter, if safety/injury prevention were the real motive. Uhuh...
Well, doc, I used to have a nice collection, but I lost them in a boating accident.
I have to say I know one liberal who owns a gun and I don’t want to be in the same city with the guy. He’s nuts.
I guess that's another good reason to never allow the doctor or nurse or PA to ever talk privately with any of your children under the age of 18. Hopefully any kids above 18 would not purposely turn their parents into the socialist/RAT Bastard/demoCRAP/fascist Marxists. Hopefully our kids will realize we are at full blown war already in this country against the evil demonic left wing forces & ideology!
Just say “no”
It IS right, however.
Do you have any firearms in your home?
Not right now because I’m not there. I’ve got it in my pocket along with my concealed carry permit. Want to see it, doc?
Shiite. I had an appointment with a crusty old Viet Nam vet a few days ago and noticed he was packing. I asked if I could see it. S&W M&P Compact .40 cal. Nice piece. He told me he’s too old to fight or to run. I agreed with him.
Dangit! I forgot to make a note of that in his health record...
