John McCain Says Ted Cruz "Crossed a Line," Should Apologize to Bob Dole
08 March 2014
Senator John McCain (shown) yesterday accused Senator Ted Cruz of having "crossed a line" when the Texas Republican claimed that the GOP's most recent losing presidential candidates Bob Dole, McCain, and Mitt Romney "don't stand for principle." McCain, the five-term Republican senator from Arizona and the party's 2008 nominee, said Cruz owed Dole an apology.
Cruz, in a speech Thursday at the Conservative Political Action Conference, told the crowd the three losing presidential candidates should have stood up for their views. "All of us remember President Dole, President McCain, and President Romney," Cruz said facetiously. "All of those are good men, those are decent men but when you don't stand and draw a clear distinction, when you don't stand for principle, Democrats celebrate," he said.
"He can say what he wants to about me and he can say anything he wants to about Mitt," the senator from Arizona said on MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports. "But when he throws Bob Dole in there, I wonder if he thinks that Bob Dole stood for principle on that hilltop in Italy, when he was so gravely wounded and left part of his body there fighting for our country?"
...
I think John McCain and Bob Dole have crossed a line and should apologize to all of us.
John McCain should cross a line. With his signature. Admitting him to a rest home for batbleep crazy politicians.
The truth hurts
Bring out the veteran card eh? Veterans can never be wrong?
John, “Begone, before somebody drops a house on you, too!”
Hey, McCain retire and let Sarah Palin run for your Senate Seat. That is the patriotic thing for you to do for your country.
Also, Palin will become your legacy.
I don't recall Cruz saying anything about anyones military service, that being said I am pretty sure McLame left a goodly part of his brain in Vietnam, not sure that I could have stood up to what he did, but that doesn't mean he is fulling his duty to his constituents now.
Mclame has crossed “a line” many, many times. The old coot should do America a favor and resign.
Senator McCain knows that Senator Cruz was not attacking former Majority Leader Dole’s bravery in battle. Please resign, John. Now.
Equivocator
One is not the same as the other.
John Effing Kerry went to Vietnam or Laos or wherever and we disagree with him as well.
Should we apologize for his views due to his service?
Bite me...erh ...go...go far, far away....tard.
McCain can piss off, worthless POS.
Jaded old politicians always USED to stand for principles when they were young. That’s why and how they got elected initially. But, we don’t let young politicians run for president in the GOP. We pick out the oldest, most jaded one we can find, the one who knows politics more than people. The one who hasn’t driven himself to work in decades or know what it costs to replace a broken central A/C unit. They talk about the middle class worker when the only middle class workers they know are the people who SERVE them.
They all owe us an apology followed by a quiet retirement from public life.
With a class rank at Annapolis of 894 out of 899, it's a good bet he didn't show up in Viet Nam with a lot of brain to start with.
When will McInsane apologize to Cruz for al the nasty insults he has said?
But I don't see it that way.
John McCain crossed the aisle and should switch parties.
A seemingly long time ago ... I actually subscribed to the WEEKLY STANDARD (I know, I know ...). I believe Kristol himself wrote a cover story on McCain. I was touched in that, the climax of the piece was saying that he’d never, ever stoop to using his war record for political reasons.
I swear, that’s all true.
Shame on you, Juan McShameHe went into enemy territory to attack an American.
This is relatively speaking, of course. He means that they were weaker about important principles than they could have been.
Cruz is a black-and-white thinker. That greatly appeals to some and will repel others. However this is still quite preferable to the line of clowns that the former great Democrat party has bequeathed us.
