How did this guy get through the liberal screening process? I assume you mean the Chief, usually they are appointed and serve at the pleasure of the Mayor or City council. Could he be elected?

He didn't start out that way. He was a staunch anti-gun LEO in California. Then he moved to Maine and saw a different side. Now he seems to understand, and has truly changed his ways, IMHO. I'm sure he is still liberal in all other ways. But there's always hope!
