Trite but true… "If you don't stand for something solid, you'll fall for anything mushy!!!" (There, I just quoted myself!!!)(grin)

"A mind is like a parachute… It must be open to function properly!" (only problem with that is… there's nothing in there but AIR!!!)

Positive view - they are equally disgusted with both Pubbies and Dems. Can certainly understand that.

Negative view - they’re gonna reach 40 still being unable to make up their minds on anything.

If anything, that will be their salvation. If the M’s mostly side with the Rats, they are evil. If they side with the GOP they are suicidal-stupid. The uniparty is WHY America is so screwed. As the saying goes, there are 500’ish people in DC and everything that ‘is’, “is’ because they want it that way. If they did not want it that way, it would not BE that way since they hold the power to make things as they want them. M’s best bet IMO is to follow the Founders ideas when it comes to political parties.

When something is repeatedly shown to be a bad idea, best to stop doing it. Simple logic. The Dem party resulted ultimately in Clinton/Barack Obama. The GOP resulted in Romney/Bhoner. Lets be honest. Ronaldus was a fluke. A wonderful fluke and thank God for him, but a fluke.

Best bet: Do something different than following the path that destroyed us.

“2003-... Digital Generation”

Unfortunately thanks to increasing liberalism in education we can just shorten that to “D-Generated.’

Right. That’s what I am thinking. I don’t care if they are “independents” in that they can’t decide between Ralph Nader, Mao or Hitlery. They are lost.

““2003-... Digital Generation”

About 6 years ago, we noticed the addiction of so many in this age group to the I Phone epidemic.

I’m not talking rocket scientists here with the addiction.

One of our younger relatives hires and fires people. He has two no go’s re cell phones.

1. If they leave their phone on during the interview, if it rings, the interview is over with no job offer.

2. If they seem competent, he asks them if they can work without their cell phones except during breaks and lunch hours. He asks his employees to leave their phones in their vehicles or lockers. If they try to ignore him, he asks for their phone, turns it off and puts it on his desk.

Their work is with heavy equipment, a lot of ladders and steep stairs up to 3 stories. Screwing around with cell phones while working in that work place can be dangerous for them and their peers working around them.

These two simple requests/observations eliminate a large number of job seekers from getting a job.

I semi joke that in a total collapse, these kids will not worry about starvation. They will simply use cell phones to order pizza while playing with their Xbox.

I say semi because I am fully convinced that their grip on reality is so marginal they don’t realize their cells won’t work to say nothing of the rest of the electrically obvious.

In all honesty, if one assembled 1000 people under 40ish, how many could survive more than a few days in the wild? If that long?

If they can’t pull a cell or an ipad out and google it, they don’t know it. And without their cells they are like deer in headlights. Literal ‘babes in the woods’.

Thanks. There seems to be a lot of good insight today from our senior freepers to newer ones. Yours is scary and unfortunately probably too accurate.

I don’t consider myself any kind of survivalist and don’t really worry about it since health issues pretty well assure I’m dead shortly after any collapse would happen.

But it is pretty interesting to me that the education system / liberalism has over time, eliminated the basics of survival from the past few generations.

I’m GenX. When I grew up we fished, camped, built fires, dealt with snowmobile induced breakdowns that resulted in several mile hikes through snow...

None of that happens today, or little of it, since no one knows anything but to sit inside and play video games. Note, I love video games, but they are not a way of life for me.

Bou Scouts now worry more about ‘gay’ than ‘survive’. Auto shop classes are all bur extinct. Home ec classes likewise. How few can sew? How few know First aid/CPR? How many know that snow insulates or even that wet wood does not burn well if at all? Who can start a fire without matches...which no one carries since smoking is ‘evil’?

Ugly truth: They are dead. Before they become a victim of feral gangs or starvation, they are dead.

I don’t have any loyalty to any party, either. I’m a conservative and I vote conservative. Period.

And we actually had tp go hours without drinking or eating something. But even further removed are the days in a mainly agrarian economy when you milked the cows at 4am, went to school and came back to milk them again and do other chores, eat, studied and were in bed by 9pm. And went to church on Sunday and had two parents.

I think it is both lack of commitment and superficial moral fiber, and or cynicism resulting from the lack of societal character that is the cause behind the rise in independents in booth politics and religion.

Right, because believing in activist government is what libertarianism is all about.

Somebody needs to produce a TV show called Battle of the Generations that puts generational teams — Millenial, X, and Boomer — in situations where they have to problem-solve their way out of them or survive their way through them or whatever. It would be an interesting test of the conventional wisdom RE the generations.

“it is pretty interesting to me that the education system / liberalism has over time, eliminated the basics of survival from the past few generations.”

A very interesting and accurate observation when connected your later observations: “Auto shop classes are all bur extinct. Home ec classes likewise. How few can sew? How few know First aid/CPR? How many know that snow insulates or even that wet wood does not burn well if at all? Who can start a fire without matches...which no one carries since smoking is ‘evil’?”

Our sons in their 40’s now when they went away to school were stunned that their friends and room mates didn’t know how to do laundry, clean up where they lived, prepare simple meals, sew and other basics of living. This observation was reconfirmed by their cousins/our nephews and nieces across this country.

All of these descendants and relatives either fished or hunted or both, enjoyed camping with or without luxury, enjoy hiking, biking, climbing and other out door activities. They are passing those traits/abilities/skills on to their children.

On both sides of our gene pool, our younger ones inherited the Rube Goldberg gene, which enables them to fix/repair or patch about anything except electronic gear. They often amaze neighbors and friends without the Rube Goldberg DNA when they fix/repair or patch about everything.

So they are doers/accomplishers instead of being dependent whining worthless protoplasm.

I was always mechanically inclined and over the years I have rebuilt several vehicles ground up (4x4s/hot rods). A couple younger guys were looking at the last project I did while it was still in a frame off state wholly unable to understand why I ‘Wasn’t working for Ford”.

To them, a vehicle was something you got in and turned a key and drove. They were wholly uninterested in them otherwise. It was mindblowing to me. There are so many parts of our culture that simply will cease to be once we are gone. Certainly a generation later. Because many modern people see no purpose or value in it.

HOW THE HELL does a dude have no interest in hot rods? It used to be practically genetic. Not today.

Now to be sure, there are SOME young guys who do, but their opportunity to do the voodoo that we do/did is rapidly vanishing. With no auto shop classes or a few buddies to talk shop with, most move on to something else.

I think the most extreme example was when my DAUGHTER had to show a male co-worker how to change a flat on his car. He had no idea you could do that yourself.

Overall, it all adds up. and we are left with people so stripped of the ability to fend for them selves in a variety of subjects, so lacking in the basics of self sustinance that they HAVE to have someone provide for them...to guide them...to show them step by step what to do...

Enter The Democrat Party.
