Fallon also pointed out that Obama took a "selfie" photo with Bill Nye "The Science Guy" and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.
"I heard that photo set the record for the least re-tweeted photo of all time," Fallon joked, as the crowd laughed and applauded.

And never get between Tyson and a camera or you’ll feel like that reporter getting hit by the snow plow.
Desperation when you can’t make laugh you piss em off!
Maybe 50% will like you!

Not to mention mocking NBC executives.
I watched for about four minutes, see no reason to EVER watch him again. His politics may suck, but I didn’t see any of that. He just basically sucks.
Suddenly Letterman looked good.
Well, I don’t think Fallon will get the ratings. But they’ll carry him and pretend everything is fine if so. They’re done with Leno
Too bad Leno pushed Ted Cruz around and mischaracterized him. Leno now has no home
Fallon seems to be a pretty nice guy. A Liberal, but whatever. Takes all kinds to make the world. Probably would be interesting to have a beer with and listen to a few of his stories.
But he's not funny to anyone except himself.
I've watched his old show a short handful of times. It's bad....not just "yikes, that joke was a klunker", but really, really bad. Nothing redeeming in any of his skits or monologues. Reminded me of the guy in High School who really, really, REALLY wanted to be one of the cool kids, would say or do anything hit that status, and only wound up losing his dignity.
Fallon’s viewer number are falling badly. He will fail miserably if he worships Obama!!!
I saw the Cruz interview. I don’t think Leno pushed him around. He basically just repeated all the conventional “wisdom” from the media talking heads. Ted dealt with it OK. I don’t think Jay will have any problem getting a late night show on another network if he wants one.
I watched Fallon one night, and it’s just his old show moved up an hour. I’m not a big fan, but I’m sure he’ll do OK in the ratings, probably better than Letterman, if not as well as Jay.
It was no endorsement of Cruz and it was a whole lot of pushing around compared with anything Leno would’ve given any lib, like Reid or Boehner and compared with what Carson EVER did to my of his guests so you can think what you want the fact is in comparison it was ridiculous and the pony is Leno did not brand hs elf conservative. And in the middle is a bad pls re to be for any entertained. He’ll have nothing to do but play cars
That's more a joke against Bush than against Obama.
Still, it's a funny jab at Kerry.
It's not in Fallon's contract that he can't ever make jokes about Democrats (it's just that the Obamas are off-limits).
On the contrary, most people want a talk show host to be in the middle. They are not that political, and just want funny. The trouble with liberals is they end up being nasty and bitter which isn't funny (Letterman, Maher). The Cruz interview didn't seem to hurt Leno's ratings anyway.
Maybe. Maybe not.
Carson was not in the middle. He never was political at all not even in life.
What Leno did was to get nasty with Cruz. He’s funny in the monologue with Obama, whose supporters might take it as nasty.
You are confusing in the middle with neutral.
Leno has no place on NBC and he’ll have no place with conservatives.
Carson was the opposite. Not that Caron has to be emulated, but with his success, hosts who don’t emulate him are silly.
Not even funny.
