Russia said it had successfully test-fired an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile on Tuesday, with tensions high over its seizure of control in the Crimea and its threat to send more forces to its neighbour Ukraine.
The Strategic Rocket Forces launched an RS-12M Topol missile from the southerly Astrakhan region near the Caspian Sea and the dummy warhead hit its target at a proving ground in Kazakhstan, the state-run news agency RIA cited Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Yegorov as saying.

As takeovers go, this probably won’t be very violent anyhow. Putin is virtually a master with the psy-ops. He’ll probably make the Ukraine almost glad they gave up Crimea in the end.
Who said Putin doesn’t have his eye on ALL of Ukraine?
Nobody, of course. I just can’t see such a conquest as immediate, any more than they immediately conquered all of Georgia.
It will be up to the rednecks of America to get some more backbone into Washington if they want it there.
Okay....we try to bankrupt them. I understand that.
1) HOW do we drive down the price of gas and oil when our pRes__ent is deliberately trying to drive them UP?
2) Should they realize what we’re trying to do, would that not make them just a little...oh, I don’t know...angry? Pissing off a nuclear-armed country isn’t exactly smart.

Looks from this that the missile flew just north of Iran. Might be a message in there too for the Mullahs. Or maybe one of the MIRVS dropped off a load of how-to books for the Mullahs?
NATO never put major facilities in the former USSR in deference to Russian sensibilities. Given Putin’s latest adventure, now is the proper to expand the NATO footprint in the Baltics and other eastern member areas. NATO must project power now. Projecting weakness now will be the of end of NATO as a credible deterrent. Putin will feel free to reassemble the USSR at his leisure.

“Drive down the price of gas and oil”
And hurt the brightest spot in the American economy? No thanks.
