Not at all.
Were it not for certain hermit crab resembling critters in story, it wouldn’t have popped to mind at all.

Grits are good with butter and garlic.Never had 'em with garlic. Butter yes, cheese yes, garlic no. And its not something that is on the menu in these parts... ;-)
some of my ancestors came over on the Mayflower!
Interesting.. My Grandmother (Paternal) always said her ancestors were on the Mayflower. Nobody could establish that link but it seems that Mrs. NoC while digging through the skeletons in the family closet has been able to do so. I'd need to get details from her. My Father's side of the family is extremely difficult to trace for some reason...
My Mother spent a lot of her retired years shaking the family tree to see what fell out, or off. Dad would ask her if she found any new horse thieves... She hit a dead end on the Mayflower link, but then, Mom didn't have access to Ancestry.com either. I think that tool was what enabled Mrs. NoC to finally draw the connection. And on another note, I see your state's resident corrupt slimeball makes news again. Not that you or anyone else for that matter would be surprised.

I would never write a story about a creature like a hermit crab, inhabiting the shell of another creature — except for the story I just wrote.
Timmy, the remarkable boy who could walk through walls, discovered he could lodge his phantasm-like spirit inside that of one of his friends.
Kinda hermit crab-like, idn’t it?

Well, the silicon bugs only resemble hermit crabs in as far as legs, claws, face, eyes, antenna.
Shell?
Nope, they have plate silicon carapace.
Which might explain their aggression.

Silicon gets interesting when you infuse nitrogen, boron, or carbon into it.

Silicon nitride is a hard dark ceramic used to make near unbreakable ball bearings.

Well, if you don't like that idea, toss some boraxo and sand into your crucible and toss it in the oven (a HOT oven). If you do it right the results will be more transparent than the Obama administration.
You could try to sell the goop that results but you'd probably get sued by Owens-Corning. Especially if you called it Pyrex...

Morning. Did I miss the kitty?
We're making progress here. Chainsaw has a mouthful of teeth, is eating mushy food, and this communication is s/p first feeding. Ahh, sleep.

Good morning. I’d have beat you, but I had to go upstairs for a few minutes. I stayed up too late, and then I dreamed of church politics. Unnngh.
Glad to hear Chainsaw is maturing, although teeth bring their own set of new issues.

A difficult decision. At least the raincoat is a given.
It's rainy here, too, but that's nothing unusual. I'm wearing the blue bathrobe and a St. Patrick's day T-shirt with a hole in it. It came with a sparkly green bowtie but I'm saving that for formal occasions.

Stuning!
Walmart has St. Patrick’s Day t-shirts on clearance, but I didn’t see any I really liked.
