Because it's their royal family. Has been ever since 1603, when a reigning Scottish king inherited the English throne (not the other way round). The manifesto of the 'yes' campaign for Scottish independence includes a commitment to keep the United Kingdom monarch as Head of State (in exactly the same way as she now is for Australia, Canada, New Zealand and others).
Thanks for reminding me that I am history challenged. I did not realize that the Royals were Scottish in the far mists of time. I thought the Royals were English to the core because they have no accent, and because they are dumb enough to believe in global warming. I thought they were more German then anything else.
So the Scots get more from the treasury then they put in and the Royals are Scottish, how about the point that the Muzzies are slowly taking over England and maybe the Scots don’t like it? This is what I get for hanging out with the smart kids, it shows the gaps in my education, I am thankful for that, that can be corrected and will be if I manage to live long enough. More than one poster has pointed out my ignorance and I am grateful to all of you.
I will say the Royals tend to pick out some good looking women.
Not quite. The lineal ancestry of the *current* "royal line" of Great Britain stems from George I, who was German, and Elector of Hanover. The last attempt at putting a Stuart on the throne failed at the Battle of Culloden in 1745...

The Stuarts died out and the dueling pretenders live in Germany and Italy. The present Royal Family are the Windsors, who were actually imported German Hanoverians, the first few Georges of whom couldn't quite speak English.
Of course, over the years they have married folks with Stuart connections (like Lady Di) to beef up the claim, and they do carry on to excess about their Scottish connections.
Of course Scotland should go independent. Why TF not? Give it a shot. Take the oil money and free haggis for all.
