I saw Gravity. The special effects were impressive, and it was the best use of 3 D I’ve seen. But the actors weren’t nearly as impressive as the hype led me to believe they would be.
We rented the film the other night. Special FXs were stunning. Bullock delivered a great performance. Soundtrack was good. Clowney was...well, Clowney (one of the most overrated actors in the business). There’s a good reason why I rarely spend my hard earned cash at the theaters. The film is a perfect example. As a whole, Gravity wasn’t worth my time.
My list of movies is weird. I did not see Gravity.
I saw The Hobbit. The Hunger Games. Enders Game. The Lego Movie. Warm Bodies, that was a pretty good movie. The Host — not a good movie. Lone Survivor — Great movie, but hard to watch because I knew real people died. Much Ado about Nothing — I sadly love everything Joss Whedon does. Sharknado — ok, that was a TV movie.
I see a lot more movies when they give me free weekend HBO or Showtime, and we buy some movies we don’t see in theatres. But I am so detached from the Oscars, as I don’t watch those movies and I don’t care if movies I do watch win awards, I just want to enjoy a movie, it’s not like I’m “invested”.
