I just finished commenting on another thread that when a great power acts like a passive, feckless idiot then lesser powers can act in such a way as to draw in the great power if they want to.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Like I said on another thread, a Czech government official (the former Foreign Minister, and a very well-respected and knowledgeable fellow - Karel Schwarzenberg) flat out said Putin = Hitler.
