According to my Chinese wife, who’s Favorites Menu is filled with Chinese Web-Sites, there was a woman among the attackers. Her MO was to push back the heads of her victims and slash their throats...
Also, the comments on these Web-Sites are of the opinion that the attackers WERE members of the ‘Religion-of-Peace’...

American felons could very easily arm themselves in a similar fashion at any time at Wal-Mart. There is no reason for felons to lose their gun rights, when the most terrifying of weapons are among those you have mentioned. In fact I would be downright grateful to have a former felon capable, ready, and yes, willing to use a firearm in defense of themselves & others in a situation such as the one that went down in China.

I believe that you mean the NW (mainly Qinghai and Xinjiang). Yunnan is south-central China, although the border areas of Yunnan do have some Muslim population. Some beautiful landscapes in Yunnan province. I heartily recommend a visit to Kunming, the capital.
