(CNN) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has asked the upper house of parliament for approval to send Russian troops into Ukraine's Crimea region to normalize the political situation there, the Kremlin said Saturday.
Due to the "extraordinary situation in Ukraine," Putin said, there are threats to the lives of Russian citizens and Russian military personnel based in the southern Crimean region.
It comes on the same day that the new pro-Russian leader of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, asked Putin for help in maintaining peace in the Black Sea peninsula -- where Russia has a major naval base at Sevastopol.

Well this should be messy and interesting... but yeah, the rest of the world probably won’t care.
But Obama, sinking under the weight of Obamacare, needed a squirrel and he has one now.
They were stuck between a rock and a hard place. Both Poland and Russia wanted the Ukraine. The Poles divvied up Czechoslovakia with the Nazis. The Russians gave the Nazis a free hand to invade the West via the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, and helped supply them in that effort. All the players in the war were despicable in some form or fashion. Bandera at least had the excuse that Ukraine was friendless and being attacked from all sides.
Ping post 94 what are your thoughts on these missiles
That's crap! The Nazis could care less what the Poles did, they knew their turn was coming...and the Cieszyn region was stolen from the Poles in 1920 by the Czechs, and since Czechoslovakia ceased to be a country in 1938, the Poles then moved in.....There was NO collaboration between the Poles and Nazis in this matter.

Looks like Crimea is being annexed by Russia. And, for Ukraine, it is unlikely to end there.
