I have taken a lot of what I understand about these people from the book by a young Winston Churchill. Churchill was only 23 years old as he fought with "The Malakand Field Force" in 1897. Churchill despaired of ever beating the Afghans. To quote Churchill.

What these desk bound military boffins seem to expect is as follows. That faced with the psychopathic merciless villains, that know no law, the soldier is expected to be a text book figure. A figure who has the compassion of a saint and martyr. Yes, of course no soldier should follow the actions of the dreaded SS of WW2. But this was a one time incident, not a regular tactic.

I will set up a PO Box and my PA (personal assistant) could go by once a week, put them in one large envelope, and mail them directly to him. I will cover postage and her time.
If it turned into thousands of checks, his bank would happily process them for him.
If I receive any significant encouragement from freepers, I will do this.
