does it produce power at night? No, but electrical power usage goes down at night. Solar in this area (Vegas) produces the most power when the AC load is the highest.
The government subsidies are the real problem, not the technology.

Far less power is needed at night since most air conditioning load is solar.
This would work very well for desert communities where there is lots of extra land and sun.
