It's my understanding that they allow a couple or three free lunches (to be repaid) and DO send a .. or more than a ... notice home to alert the parents.

I'm not judgeing this ... just saying what I know about OUR local HS/MS

Same in our district. They can “charge” two or three lunches before they are cut off. Parents are notified etc.
I would think this is the case there. Although some lunch ladies are like the soup Nazi on Seinfeld.
We had one here who would not let the kids just get juice and milk. They only wanted the juice and milk and would actually throw away the rest.
She insisted they had to take the whole lunch even if it was wasted.
I photoshopped a pic. of the soup Nazi with the caption NO MILK FOR YOU>
They changed the policy.
The feds. have tons of stupid policies we have to adhere to as feds. fund the school lunch program.
