I Google Street’d the same thing not long ago. We had huge elms on the sidewalk parkways lining every street in Hinsdale, all gone due to dutch elm disease. We had a deck above the garage and they built basically a guest house over it. Things change. I Google Street’d our apple orchard and it’s now a horse farm...drove by it after mom’s funeral last year and it actually looks better than when we had it.

I know where you were, had a girlfriend in Barrington.

We also had 4-5 massive American elms (Ulmus americanus) on the 3.5ac property, and they were gone when I was back for the 20yr HS reunion. But the transformation (damn I hate that word) of the old neighborhood is stunning. I’m going over to Dad’s and Sister’s tomorrow, and will show them the old place. It will take some convincing that I’m not hallucinating, or worse, when I try to convince them that that’s the place. Heh.

We used to go here on our 24” Schwinns in late-50s/early-60s, after school for burgers, fries & shakes. For $1, we ate like kings.
