Just thinking out aloud...she had SOLE custody. The kenyan student, in March 1964, when the divorce was finalized, wanted to stay at Harvard for another year (not granted) - the boy was evidently adopted as Soebarkah (another branch of the Soetoro family tree?) What makes us believe he was adopted in Hawaii? All we know is that the name Soebarkah was removed from her passport in August 1968, and it seems he travelled on his own passport from then on, arriving at immigration without a return ticket as BHO2 (for short) and nothing to support the contention that the two elderly white people who probably came to meet him at the airport were his relatives. The only way to clear up that mess would have been for the 'parents' named on the divorce docs to appear together. Which they apparently did. That's when we see them photographed at the airport. And that's when the boy was told the kenyan was his father. Prior to that, he told his classmates he was an Indonesian Prince.
Wasn’t that in 1971. About the time of closure for the estate of Madelyn father for whom she was executor. It was at this time that she became 0 legal guardian — parental responsibility voided. It was also during this time period that she was appointed VP of the bank in charge of the Trust/escrow department , the family moved to the top floor (penthouse) apartment and 0 was enrolled in private school
They must have needed more then a signature from SR for him to make the trip My guess is he had to appear in some type of legal hearing regarding that guardianship
