He's not spitting on the man's corpse but just pointing out the hypocrisy of those who think that everyone they like will be "resting in peace" regardless of the life they led.
Doug Giles is just pointing out that there are two roads to eternity, the wide one that leads to destruction and the narrow one that leads to life.
