It’s not ignorance, it’s pragmatism. You didn’t get your view of government in a vaccum. It’s a culmination of 2,000 + years of human thought and history. You’re proceeding from a conclusion (which you inherited) that contains fundamental truths about human nature. And yet you accept threats to those truths which are the underpinning of your understanding. That is appalling.
