Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) started out his campaign for Senate arguing that incumbent Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) is actually a liberal. Now a Cornyn's campaign spokesman is using National Journal rankings to peg his primary opponent as the "3rd least conservative" House member in Texas.
Cornyn spokesman Drew Brandewie tweeted out facts about National Journal's 2013 House rankings as they apply to Stockman.
Stockman has repeatedly accused Cornyn, the No. 2 Senate Republican, of being a secret liberal who actually supports Obamacare. National Journal ranks Cornyn the 14th most conservative member of the Senate in 2013.
Among Cornyn and Stockman's state delegation the Texas congressman falls into the lower half of conservative lawmakers. By TPM's count, National Journal's composite conservative score puts only Texas Reps. Blake Farenthold and Ted Poe as less conservative, leaving 20 other Republican House members in the Texas delegation as more conservative than Stockman.
To compile the ratings, National Journal examines roll-call votes for the 113th session of Congress and identifies which votes illustrate the ideological differences between members of Congress. The conservative percentile rating is meant to show "the member voted more conservative than that percentage of his or her colleagues." The rankings have sometimes come under criticism due to the fact that they are largely determined by the congressional agenda.

John “Cornhole” Cornyn, a lukewarm conservative at best, RINO at worst.
He was my representative in the Senate. I was unable to attend due to more pressing matters at the home office. I had to earn the money that is taxed so that his salary and other expenses are paid. I needed him to assert my conservative views. He didn’t at a time the support was most critical. He failed his assigned task.
Therefore, as his employer I regret to inform him his services are no longer required. I will be seeking a replacement in early March.

After us Texans have seen a true conservative, Cruz, we know it is time for Cornyn to go.
Well...hell.
Cornyn is running an ad in which he calls himself a “candidate for Senate”, yet NEVER mentions that he is in his 2nd term as Senator OR that he holds the position of Senate Minority Whip.
Sounds to me as though Cornyn isn’t very proud of all of his “major accomplishments” in the Senate for the past 12 years.
But....just like US, he owns guns and plans to keep them.
I am praying that enough of my fellow TEXANS can see this cowardly, back-stabbing RINO for what he is and toss his worthless hide out of the Senate in this coming Primary Race.

Let us not overlook the FACT that Cornyn also voted in the affirmative to confirm both Hanoi John Kerry as Secretary of State and then followed up that outrage by voting to confirm Chuck U. Hagel as SecDef.
Like our troops didn’t already have it bad enough with Barak Hussein Obama as their “C-I-C”.
Yeah, it puzzles me as to why Cornyn would want to ever bring ratings up.
Some good news....Stockman is now running TV ads. They’re professional sounding and tell voters to go to StandWithStockman.com.
So what? It would be better to have the 3rd least conservative rep. from Texas than the most conservative rep. from New Jersey. And it would be better to elect a new mushy conservative than to re-elect a known sell out like Cornyn.
Good news, ready to hear it.

Spot on. We need to send EVERYONE on all contact lists the reasons to NOT vote for Cornpone and TO vote for Stockman. We need another Cruz-like run-off, at the least.

His funding has been low, but maybe not as low as the other (R) Senate contenders? Not sure....especially, compared to Cornyn’s millions/war chest.
