John Elway, former American football quarterback and is now the executive vice president of football operations for the Denver Broncos, was asked on FOX News Sunday why he was a Republican.
Well, those are what my beliefs are. I believe you know as a country that we are given the opportunity to succeed or not succeed. And, I think for us to be able to, I dont believe in safety nets, obviously we have to have some kind of safety nets, but I think My philosophy is when youre given the opportunity you take advantage of that and I think thats when you get the best out of people.
Elway went on to say he has no plans on running for public office. The Denver Broncos are playing in Super Bowl XLVIII tonight in New Jersey.

I do know of at least one Harvard grad who was an outright joke.
And thats not Elway. He is a morally repugnant womanizing piece of junk that makes Bill Clinton look like a model of good behavior. No thanks.
He owes the good people of Colorado nothing but to leave us alone.
And family and church should be the next layers of safety nets, not big gov. For one thing they have the time and concern to notice if they are enabling bad behavior. Big gov doesn't care much, and paying gov-employees to care triples the taxpayer cost.
Republicans are motivated by healthy competition. Democrats don't think they can win fair and square so are motivated by envy/unhealthy competition. To be motivated by healthy competition people need to have a fair and reasonable chance of winning. To do that people need to play in the right league for their skill level. Not everyone can play at the top. By creating layered economic playing fields, most people can find a place to compete and win, and cherish American values of low taxes and freedom.
I suppose that Elway was a deaf, mute invisible man when the decision was made to draft Tebow.

Well said...
Sorry, but Josh McDaniels was picked out of the Patriots organization in 2009 and given pretty much control of the team because he was the hot commodity. After a 8-8 record in 2009 the 2010 draft was his. Elway may have had a slight say at that time but it wasn’t until the following year he was the man. You also have to remember Tebow was given the starting roll for the later part of 2011 under Elway’s reign. Getting Manning the following year and getting rid of Tebow seems to have panned out. I like Tebow but would have gone after Manning.
Elway wasn’t executive of the team then.
I’m not the player, just a fan of the Red Wings with a similar last name.
Arrogant is exactly what I see when I am exposed to Elway.
FWIW, I am a Manning fan, though for me Joe Montana is my all time favorite :)
Conservative, quarterback, legendary.
Jack Kemp, for example.
Except when he is running mate for Bob Dole.
