Yep, I remember that one too. We cooked over a grill in the fireplace, dad had an old Sears 3000w generator that ran the furnace blower and kept the fridge running.
My daddy was from Rome, and I'm related to most of the people there. Dad went to Darlington, and he was sitting on the levee one time with 4-5 friends and while they were talking they realized they were ALL cousins . . .

Well, it is a small world and I’ve known it for a long time. I’m a poor cousin for not knowing, but do you ever see Fr. Shuler since he left or the girls?

The day of the storm, Home Depot online has a sale on propane powered generators. I bought one that day.

“You see how stupid that sounds”
To the contrary: anyone who does not have a compelling reason to drive should stay where they are. Your warm, sheltered and safe - don’t get stupid by heading out into gridlock with no heat, pointless glass-and-metal box, and at high risk.

Yup. When what happened here happens in NY, they shut down too. They just don’t say much, because it happened every year.

LOL! Ran into him at HS a few Sundays ago. I gave him a copy of the Liber Usualis (got it used, cheap!) since he didn’t have one.

There are a lot of uses for a generator besides an Ice storm.Indeed. I haul mine out to edge of property when I need an electric tool out there.

It was not cars that were jackknifing and blocking entire interstates. You must be or know a truck driver. Typical arrogant attitude.
To: armydawg505
I don't know where that came from. I am not a trucker, haven't been one for forty years, but I would rather follow one of them through a blizzard than any arrogant four wheeler driver. How many cars did you see screwed up compared to trucks?
I was just trying to show the absurdity of her suggestion, but you had to get personal, so BITE ME!!
