Im betting that this was not a very young physician...There are no very young brain surgeons. It takes too long to become a brain surgeon, so by the time you become one you're not young anymore.
However a guy who is a Polish (?) immigrant and managed to requalify as a neurosurgeon in the US has more guts than most and knows more about sacrifice and work. He's also probably used to cold and snow, too.
