Get a rope.... It’s worked for centuries. In fact, bring back the guillotine and give the evil bastards their choice.
The death penalty is only used for the very worst of our murderers, most just do time and aren’t given capitol punishment but the ones who are absolutely deserve it.
They chose to kill so give them that one last choice... Rope or blade.
Also, have a law that one appeal is all they get and a 5 year maximum waiting period that no judge can over ride for ANY reason.
The murder rate would plummet.
Death Row should be 5 cells, and when one moves in, one moves out.
One thing is, that if you throw in an exhaustive detailed forensic investigation to make sure that there is no innocent people facing death, that would actually be something that would save innocents from being executed.
One of the best arguments against the death penalty is that innocent people do get caught up and end up executed.
