The temperature here is 5.5° at the moment, supposedly on its way to 14°. The snow on the deck and the weather
bannister (where we can count the inches of snow) is subliming, but nothing is able to melt at these temperatures.
It was -10° when I got up this morning, once again exceeding the predicted low temperature of -8°. They’re rarely
right on.
I really don’t mind. I’m a giant red snowball with black legs again today with my bright red poncho with the fun-
fur collar, which is keeping me toasty!
I’m going to make a sandwich.
That picture always reminds me of the shoe store where I shopped for inserts for my plantar fasciitis (which is cured since I found out what was causing it).
I walked in the door and immediately two little chihuahuas came dashing at about 100 MPH from the back of the store and proceeded to demand attention.
I spent more time with them on my lap getting love, kisses, scritches, and pets than getting fitted for the inserts.
These were custom-made inserts, so I had to return to pick them up the next week, and I got the same treatment. And so did the chihuahuas. When I left, they
cried. I felt terrible! But while I was there, I just couldn’t say no to them.
“I said, ‘Now we’re both members of the Cracked Head Club.’ You know, I had two craniotomies. For real. They literally took the top of my head off. Twice.
Now, the wags in Delaware, when the second operation occurred, wrote and said, ‘Well, it’s because they couldn’t find a brain the first time!’”
