“I’m not aware of excessive force in that at all,” Bratton told reporters on Monday during a hastily scheduled visit to the West 96th Street corridor

...

Upper West Side resident Kang Wong, 84, was left dazed and bleeding in the scuffle with cops who were ticketing jaywalkers on Sunday near the scene of another pedestrian fatality—a confrontation that escalated in plain view of reporters covering the death

Bratton said he believed Wong sustained his injuries in a fall...

NYC's "finest" strike again (literally)

I hope all of the FR jackboot licker are really proud of this It's better than shooting a dog, but not as good as actually shooting the guy. I guess that there were too many witnesses for that.

I hope this is just a tiny tase of what's to come for New Yorkers for voting their little Stalin into the office of mayor and for voting for their statist reps in Kongress to export tyranny to the rest of the country.

“Bratton said he believed Wong sustained his injuries in a fall, adding, “We’ll have to wait until we end the investigation and get an idea what actually happened.””

And so the coverup begins! I just fear for the safety of any witnesses, and I hope that the city has to pay out a bundle.

All those who think the police were justified in beating the old guy raise your right hand

Looks like there a lot who think it's OK.

It's sad that an elder was injured, but apparently you feel that the jaywalker has no responsibility in what happened. I personally feel that both parties are to blame here. If this gentleman is living in America he and his family have a responsibility to insure that he has some knowledge of the language and understands our laws if he is going out and about on his own, or do you feel that only those from south of our border have to do this.

But both parties didn't suffer any consequences. Only the old guy was beaten. The cops will probably get a commendation.

Jaywalking has it’s own penalty, it’s called “getting run down” or “getting mashed”.

Reality should be that if you don’t cross at the walk, when you’re supposed to, you do so at your own risk...

GA has a pedestrian priority law. That you’re supposed to stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk. About ten years ago there was some idiotic woman who went around and started marching out in front of cars to prove some sort of point. She made the news, but unfortunately no one actually flattened her.

Well, those cops sure taught HIM a lesson, eh? I'll be he never does THAT again! What's more, they made an example of him to any other citizen who dares to step out of line and incur the slightest infraction! I mean, we're in a post 9/11 world, people! The LEOs are here to protect you peons - er, citizens! Just make sure you don't get out of line and everything will be fine!

I wonder how long this thread will last before the admin mods pull it for showing the police in a bad light? I posted the original article yesterday and it lasted about 5 minutes before it was pulled with no explanation.

The story had been posted at least a dozen times and it was already 4-6 days old.

Just because something isn’t against the rules, doesn’t mean the mods won’t frown on it.

Dozens if not hundreds of confused old men are restrained without injury by 100lb women in nursing homes every day. Knowing the language and law would have saved him a beating but that is not the most important lesson learned here. The most important thing you learn here is that jackboots banged up and old man because he didn’t cower in awe of their authority and their superiors (and by extension government) fully support it.
