I suspect these leaks are being generated by Democrats who see that a Wendy Davis candidacy would be a disaster, possibly resulting in greater losses in both houses of the Legislature and possibly the loss of a Congressional seat or two. The main source of the leak was the Dallas Morning News, a typical big city monopoly daily rag not friendly to conservatives, to say the least. With increased conservative leverage in the House of Representatives through the loss of several seats, the speakership could pass out of the hands of the RINO Joe Straus and into those of a real conservative.

The Democrats would do well to select a moderate Hispanic businessman who could pull 40-45% of the governor's vote, solidifying their hold on this growing voting bloc and protecting legislative and U.S. House seats.

Someone who claims to be in a position to know claims exactly this in the comments to the original Dallas Morning News article. I’m sorry I can’t tell you how far down they are, thanks to the “more comments” button, but the person posts twice in a row; adding information to his first post.

It seems that there is another woman intending to run for governor (also posted in the comments several times). I’m not clear if she is a democrat or what. And someone, somewhere, mentioned a run off.

The reporter/ author of the original article has stated, adamantly, that he has had no contact with Attorney General Abbott- but that won’t stop the accusations from the left.
