A Dallas-based company that writes research papers, essays and other classroom assignments -- so students don't have to -- says it is doing so well that it has expanded its staff from just a few writers to more than 100 in the past year.
The company bills itself as the one "students trust to write professional, in-depth and plagiarism-free essays that receive the highest grades for all levels of coursework...so they no longer have to face the burden of academic coursework."
It says the writing is done for an "affordable" fee; and it has foreign writers on staff for non-American students.
In a news release announcing the "custom writing service" for students in the United States, the company includes the following testimonial:
"I enjoyed using the service," one student is quoted as saying. "The paper was written excellent (sic)...My professor was satisfied, and so am I."
Other testimonials on the company's website read:
"I've sent the paper to evaluation first 'cause I wasn't sure if they can find a writer with a relevant academic background...But yes, they did! It seems like she read my thoughts and written the paper (sic) as if I did it myself, lol :-)"
And this: "Cool essay. Couldnt been done better (sic). Just noticed a few typos, but thats okay."
The company offers discounts of 5 percent after ten orders; and 15 percent after 20 orders.
In August, President Obama announced his plan to tie federal financial aid to colleges and universities that do well in a yet-to-be-announced college rating system. As CNSNews.com reported at the time, the rating system means the government will define what a good college is.
Increasing the number of students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds "is at the top of the list," Education Secretary Arne Duncan said in October. Another key criteria is college "affordability." And third is "outcomes" -- graduation rates, job placement, and post-graduate salaries that are high enough to help young people pay back their college loans.
For the record, the essay writing company mentioned above says it also writes college admission essays. -
Wonder how much they pay? I’m good at writing papers.
Actually, submitting a paper someone else wrote is plagiarism. Websters defines the verb to plagiarize as “to use the words or ideas of another person as if they were your own words or ideas”.
To be an effective source of fraudulent academic work, the low paid writers must not themselves engage in plagiarism (since this could result in the plagiarism being noticed). The student who turns in their product purporting it to be his or her own must be the only plagiarist involved in the process.
‘The company bills itself as the one “students trust to write professional, in-depth and plagiarism-free essays that receive the highest grades for all levels of coursework...so they no longer have to face the burden of academic coursework.”’
The product may be plagerism-free but is it not plagerism for the “student” to put his/her name on someone else’s work in and of itself plagerism?
Back in the early 70s there were students who hired stand-ins in my organic chemistry classes. The class was large enough that the professor never knew everyone. The ‘goats’ also did the labs and took the exams. They were usually grad students from another school who had already taken the courses and/or had an expertise in the area. Not done much in seminar courses but a lot in the lower to mid-level courses. The “employer” wanted the A grades for other purposes such as to get into med school where they didn’t have to take organic or physical chem or even a grad course in microbiology. They just had to have the general background, not the detailed knowledge to make it through the actual medical courses. I knew a couple who made it in that way. Gave you the urge to go to faith healers rather than some who ended up with their MD degree.
Or fraud.
Back in the ‘50s there was a company a block away from the UC Berkley campus that sold “professional notes” for big lecture classes that everyone had to take — Geology 1, Anthropology 1, English 101, etc. The student still had to read the notes, however, to prepare for the exam. They just could miss the lecture which had 500 people in it anyway.
I bought the notes once and found the lectures to be mmore interesting and informative.
Re: handwriting sample.
LOLOLOL!
You're correct. Composing is not illegal.
But using any composition or any other writing or indeed any other "thing" to defraud another person or group is illegal, both under common law and under statutes too numerous to mention.
In other words, it's not the act of writing that's illegal. The illegality lies in the USE of the writing.
PS: An act of fraud does not have 1st Amendment protection, no more than does "falsely crying fire in a crowded theater.
These are more common in online schools and “easy” degrees(see UNC football players).
Real professors have search engines to check for these types of things. They also require things like rough drafts, outlines, etc before the actual paper.
I teach at a major university. Blue books still exist and are excellent for spotting people who don’t do their own work. Additionally, term papers have to be made so specific that the person writing the paper has to be taking the course. Generic, open ended term papers are a thing of the past in my courses.
They’re still making kids more useless than they are now.
The number one freshman course at the University where I work is remedial English composition. That is NOT English as a second language. The second most popular freshman course is remedial mathematics. How remedial? Most of us got that stuff in elementary school.
This makes me so sad. I have learned the most about the field that I want to specialize in from various papers/projects before dissertation writing. These students are missing many learning opportunities by not doing these assignments. I mourn for the future of our society if this will be viewed as an acceptable practice.
P.S. Is this about http://www.writemypapers.org/ or http://www.usessay.com/. Seems like testimonials are from the second source.
They can’t speak properly and now they’ll certainly not be able to write properly, and the dumbing down continues. Daddy will still have to put out the bucks for the so called “education”!
