LONDON, Jan 17 (Reuters) - Refiners in Asia, Europe and Russia are shipping around half a million tonnes of heating oil and diesel to the United States this month after bitterly cold weather sharply reduced oil stocks there.

At least a dozen tankers have been booked so far in January to ship gasoil and diesel to the U.S. East Coast, according to traders and shipping data.

The majority of the tankers, or around 300,000 tonnes of oil product, originated from the Baltic Sea and Black Sea.

Maybe if the Keystone Pipeline was completed the USA would not have to be buying heating oil from Russia.

Obama’s war on carbon energy sources has gravely damaged the American economy.

“Maybe if the Keystone Pipeline was completed the USA would not have to be buying heating oil from Russia. “

In Obama’s world sending American dollars to our actual enemies or our potential enemies is desirable. Keeping that money at home might fund the Tea Party or something even worse.

Too bad KommieBama won’t allow the XL pipeline to Canada to be finished. Plenty of oil safely delivered and our money goes to a close ally who can turn around and use it buy stuff from the U.S. instead of sending our money to communist countries and Muslim enemies half way around the world.

Yes, we have lots of it here, I don’t get why it’s being purchased so far away.

On a side note, I just bought some new tools for my bag (electrician), and I only buy stuff made in Canada or USA. Harder to find stuff made in Canada, so most of tools are US made.

It's nearly impossible to buy tools made in north America. My old favorite brands now proclaim Made in China...

It’s real easy, I don’t go to Home Depot, or places like that, I go to the suppliers.

Meanwhile, the US is exporting record amounts of gasoline and diesel. The most since the 1940s.

Meanwhile, the US is exporting record amounts of crude oil to Canada.

Meanwhile, the US oil industry is agitating, wanting congress to change the export laws so they can export oil to countries other than Canada and Mexico.

Meanwhile, the natural gas industry is agitating, wanting Obama to approve more permits to export natural gas. Thus far, he has issued four.

These refineries on the gulf coast have a lot of excess capacity to refine heavy crude but that heavy crude from Venezuela is no longer available, so they want the Keystone pipeline built, to supplement the 100,000 barrels per day of Alberta oil that is already reaching the Gulf.

Meanwhile we have a glut of sweet light from the Bakken and the Eagle Ford in Texas and this is needed in the eastern US and eastern Canada because those refineries are set up to refine sweet light oil. They have been using imported Brent Crude from the North Sea, but that carries a premium price. We are exporting record amounts of this sweet light oil to eastern Canada but they need more.

Its amazing how the world market operates. A little bird told me that if you have to buy fuel oil on the spot market, the cheapest place to get it is in asia.

Oddly, some Canadian products for electrical work are priced much lower. I ordered an Eaton outdoor switch for an off-grid well pump for a fraction of the outrageous cost of an American one.

The hub needed for a top feed to an inlet on the outdoor post (no hole for conduit on top of the inlet) was a little difficult to find at a low cost, but I finally found a low cost one. I'm not an electrician (no years of documented apprenticeship under an electrician as needed for license in my state), but I do permitted electrical work on my own place and keep a copy of the NEC (remote area here with no nearby power lines).

“In 2006, Canada exported 646 million barrels of crude oil, valued at about $38 billion. Almost all of these exports were to the United States, especially the Midwest states that are close to the oil production facilities in Western Canada.”

We’re consuming less oil in the U.S.A. due to our economic collapse. The last time I looked, we were consuming about a million barrels per day less than a few years ago. Take a look at other nations that rely on energy and agriculture exports without much real, domestic manufacturing in order to see where we’re headed (third world). Most “American-based” manufacturing is actually being done in other countries while being reported as domestic.
