They want to think about it until the Canadians get totally disgusted with us and decide to sell all their oil to Asia. If the pipeline goes to the Canadian coast, we are still free to bid against asian countries for the oil, which could be shipped to California refineries by tanker.
Of course, if the pipeline goes to Oklahoma and Texas it is more difficult for other countries to outbid us for the oil...
Neither Kerry, nor Obama, has the best interest of the US at heart.
