Blame the victims. Empower the oppressors.
Save your lectures. I just laugh at you. And not a jolly laugh.
“However Obama still could have been handed an embarrassing defeat if only the 4 MILLION conservatives who voted Republican in 2008 would have voted. By NOT VOTING they voted FOR obama. “
i wonder if those 4 million who didn’t vote in 2012 really did vote? do you recall poll watchers in Ohio and elsewhere reporting that votes cast by voters for Romney were being recorded as votes for BO? it just seemed that Repubs are just too weak to pursue these issues, unlike Democratic candidates who appear to lose by small margins, but end up winning because the Dem party suddenly finds bags of uncounted votes, or calls for recount after recount until their candidate is declared the winner. also. weren’t the 2012 national election votes counted by some overseas business concern?
You fool. Its people like you who never stood firm in your convictions who have brought us into dictatorship. Shut up and get the hell off this forum.
By not voting, they voted for ... no one. Zero. So the total vote count, lacking those 4 million votes of conservatives, made Obama's overall percentage of support falsely inflated and represented.
NOT voting is dumb, to me. It's wrong, too, because the franchise was paid for in blood. Men died so we could vote; to blow it off because we don't like the way Democrats and Republicans do things, is wrong.
But there is no voting "against." There is no "voting 'for' when you don't vote,'" not even effectively. It's like a light switch, on or off. You only get to vote FOR.
Had enough "sick of it" Americans who stayed home, gone to the polls and voted for a sure-loser Don Quixote and split the total vote into a plurality, it would have actually HELPED the right because then, Obama's overall percentage of support would be a minority of Americans. On real paper, in real numbers. And that would make him weaker, the way it hurt Clinton both times it happened to him. Obama would face the world with everyone knowing that two in three Americans rejected him at the ballot box.
Like you, JSteff, I get frustrated when I hear "conservatives" say they're just not going to vote, to hell with it. That is surrender.
The SCOTUS argument is bogus when you look at the reality on the ground. Most of the major outrages of the Supreme Court since the prayer decision of the early 1960’s had Republican appointed Justices involved in negating parts of the Constitution. Examples of Republican appointees trashing the Constitution:
Earl Warren, 1963 ruling to ban prayer in the public schools
Harry Blackmun 1973 Roe v Wade ruling on the abortion issue
Anthony Kennedy 1986 homosexual rights decision
Sandra Day O’Connor 1989 decision refusing to overturn Roe v Wade
David Souter 1992 Abortion Right decision
John Paul Stevens 2005 Takings clause decision undermining property rights
John Roberts outrageous 2012 Obamacare decision
There are many other examples of Republican appointees undermining the Constitution but the above will suffice in making the point that Republican appointees are helping in the destruction of the Republic.
