A 43-year-old father was shot dead by a retired cop in a Florida cinema after a row about him texting his three-year-old daughter as they waited for the movie to start, witnesses said.
Chad Oulson was shot in front of his wife and horrified movie-goers during an argument with 71-year-old Curtis Reeves.
The victim's wife, Nicole, was injured in the shooting after holding her hands out to try to shield Mr Oulson during the confrontation at a movie theater near Tampa on Monday.
After Reeves fired at his chest the victim was heard saying: 'I can't believe I got shot', according to Fox News.
Reeves, who is facing life in prison if found guilty, has been charged with second-degree murder. During a hearing on Tuesday he appeared via video link, wearing a green suicide smock - a fire resistant outfit that can't be torn or turned into a noose.
The judge ruled he should be held without bond because of the severity of the charges, but the no bond ruling can't be confirmed until a live hearing with Reeves.

Don’t matter it was popcorn or a brick, Mr. Reeves was expecting a smack down. It happened very fast.
In a Marty Robbins ballad El Paso
“
My challenge was answered in less than a heart-beat;
The handsome young stranger lay dead on the floor.
Just for a moment I stood there in silence,
Shocked by the FOUL EVIL deed I had done”
Forget the plot but see the action, the shooting happened fast.
I know rules for evidence in a criminal trial will filter out all the garbage the media put in their articles.
And what was the police report based on detective?
I noted you evaded the above question...Funny all the witnesses said popcorn was thrown, yet you suggest the shooter had no idea what it was thrown..
Unknown object??...Wait until the judge/jury hears that one. What a knee slapper.
You best stick to sing song lyrics.
Can’t help you fella. The two were mutual verbal combatants in fight mode; one old and one young. Young Mr Oulson threw a missile and hit Reeves in the face and old Mr. Reeves fearing a smack down defended himself by shooting young mister Oulson and just like in the lyrics “in less than a heart beat” Oulson had a bullet in him. That is what I think happened and all the media clutter ginning sympathy for the victim and despising the perpetrator won’t mean anything in court. If you can’t get past your prejudice and feelings and your ability to be abrasive you might be able to articulate what you think happened at the time of the shooting. Of course the investigation will continue and new facts will emerge.
And what was the police report based on detective?
I noted you evaded the above question multiple times.
Funny all the witnesses said popcorn was thrown, yet you suggest the shooter had no idea what it was thrown?
You think anyone buys your scenario about an "unknown missile" thrown?
Get real.
So if someone says F you chump to your face, are you going to shoot them to death because they might possibly push you or hit you?
What does that have to do with anything here?
Mr. Oulson committed a code 604 violation. IF Mrs. Reeves corroborates her husband then it will be very hard to get a second degree murder conviction. If 71 year old Mr. Reeves does have multiple health issues requiring medication and medical attention it will help with the position that he had a right to defend himself.
There are defenders of a murderer here. Nice place you got. Kill ‘em all texters!
Mostly cops, I suppose. Annoy a cop, even a retired one, and you die. The problem is, these folks really believe this.
You have no clue what you’re talking about.
