The problem with the brands is that the manufacturers seem to change a lot. I had a repairman recently tell me that Kenmore, Whirlpool and Maytag washers all (currently) use the same motors. I don’t know anything about LG. At one point I thought GE “made” LG, but no???

Whirlpool bought Maytag, and has been the OEM manufacturer for Kenmore for some time. They use the same motors because they're all made by the same company!

I've had washers and dryers by all three makes, and my favorites (or my wife's favorites) were the Whirlpools. We had a gas dryer, which worked great. The Maytags (Neptune series) were the worst.

Kenmore contracts their designs to whomever is willing to build them at the lowest price. LG, Samsung, GE, Whirlpool.

Whirlpool and GE are it for US amnufacturers.

Whirlpool is Kitchen Aid, Maytag, Amana Fridgidaire, Magic Chef, Roper.

GE is still GE and Hotpoint, but tdo a lot of contrct work for Sears/Kenmore. It’s abot 1/4 of GE’s appliance production

I think that LG is a Korean company. It seems to have a good reputation.

A couple of years ago me and my GF went to Home Depot to buy a new washer and dryer. after looking real close I realized that the cheapest washer, an Admiral was the EXACT same washer as the much more expensive Whirlpool with a different button arrangement and decals.
We went for the Admirals and saved about $500 dollars.
Both still work like a charm.
