I drive as little as possible. Unless I'm actively driving, I don't carry ID. And if I am driving, the ID gets left with the vehicle.

I am a free man. I don't have to have an ID to walk around or exist.

I always carry it with me, unless I’m riding the bike in the neighborhood. But, otherwise, I always carry it, because there are many instances where I have to have ID.

I might swing by the bank, while I’m out and didn’t think about it before. I might want to get a bottle of cough medicine from the store shelf. I might be run over while riding my bike, and I’ll want someone to identify me, if I’m unconscious and knocked out for days, or event months. I might have to show who I am, when I am picking up a kid from school (and I’m authorized to do so, by paperwork in the office).

What I find ... is there are all sorts of reasons for having ID and it saves me another trip out, if I didn’t think about it beforehand.

OH ... and of course, there is the open carry law and concealed carry law that requires ID. If I want to carry concealed, then I’ll need to have my ID.
