Ansel, putting your hands over your eyes helps less. When 2 people on this thread say that it’s a muth and about 10 come back and tell you it isn’t...when it is pointed out to you that your census data missed a huge chunk of the population simply because there were few/no takers in rural areas, when your own admission that your own family like hundreds of millions of others has young marraige in it, then one of us has a problem with reality. Not faulty papers...reality.

Look at it from the outside. you see a guy that says X is a muth and oh by they way, I have X in my own family...but it’s still a myth. How exactly do you figgure that sounds? And please explain the difference between that and a lib saying “I am surrounded in crushing ice that isnt really here because global warming melted it all.

Thats not a straw man. Both instances show people admitting their pet idea is wrong, giving actual evidence that it is wrong and telling someone with a straight face that no, it’s not wrong.

Just a point of reference. On the first 60 posts (as far as I counted), about 25 freepers either recognized young marriage as a common factor of our past or admitted to it in their own families as a normal thing. Four were against/in denial of history.

The possibilities from that sampling.

1: the majority of freepers, who are supposedly far more aware of American and world history than the average person are wrong.

2: 4 Freepers who are supposedly far more aware of American and world history than the average person are wrong.

I wonder what Vegas would give on these odds.

Amazing, you just want to make it up, and I don’t know why you keep going on about the census, you don’t know anymore about it than you do about the normal ages for marriage during different eras, and marriage records aren’t based on the census anyway, the census was interviewing people, the marriage records are church and government records, marriages are recorded.

It does seem that you are trying to move to a different argument though, that young marriages like my own and my grandmother’s happen, but that they were not the normal, the average, the routine, which is the myth that you wanted to spread at first.

There is no reason for you to be so dedicated to some simple historical fact reaching freepers.
