It’s that “you say” that makes me think Magary asked a specific question... i.e. set Phil up so that he could take the quote without the question and put it in its own box and make it seem like Phil was saying black folks were happier under Jim Crow.
Phil didn’t say, “Happier”... he just said they were happy, from what he knew of them working side by side in the cotton fields.
I am about the same age as Phil and I personally observed the exact same thing over my lifetime. Blacks were happier 40 years ago than they are today.
They had intact families, businesses, and we’re churchgoing and happy. Now they are miserable slaves on the democratic/welfare plantation angry at anyone and everyone with no jobs, no fathers and no God.
Everything Phil said is true. No one should fear telling the truth.
Things are NEVER so bad... that they can’t get worse, MUCH, MUCH worse.
Blacks may have had MANY reasons to be unhappy back then (and justifiably so) but they were FAR happier than they are now. Because when you have no father, no job, and no God, the other injustices of life are far harder to bear.
