The reporters thought they were the good guys: Chattanooga is one of the most dangerous cities in America, and their series for The Times Free Press was creating pressure for local officials to do something about it.
Just one month ago the paper was bragging about the initial results of its Speak No Evil series: Police arrested 32 of the worst of the worst in this city of 176,000 and the newspaper obliged by putting their pictures on the front page.
Everyone arrested was black.
The first phase was over: First, recognize that most violent crime comes from a very small pocket of people. Then tell them to stop. Or move. Or get arrested.
Two weeks later, the paper was ready for the next step: Organize a meeting to convince residents in high-crime neighborhoods to give up the code of silence and start calling police when they see a crime.

Hanifa is on to something here. Seems certain to be mental, but not so sure it is an illness.
Facts....... those can be used to prove anything. HJS
Two words - common sense.

Some thoughts along those lines (which will probably be unpopular, and there are some gross generalizations):
Based on whites from Chattanooga I have known (mostly in the 1970’s-80’s), I suspect that most/many older blacks there, as in many places, have experienced racism aplenty in years past, including at the hands of police and government. Blatant racism has probably declined since then, but it takes decades to restore trust. And even though blacks are overwhelmingly the victims of black criminals, many are in a state of denial that blacks are ever actually guilty of anything. Maintaining racial solidarity trumps evidence and reason. Black politicians succeed by exploiting this mentality; they are not going to kill the golden goose.
All this legacy leaves black people with low expectations that contemporary police and government will deliver “justice” for black victims (or perpetrators), or protect witnesses. But practical experience gives them high expectations that black criminals and gangs, and the overall community, will punish those who testify against them. Contemporary black “leaders” seem to do everything in their power to continue this situation, which denies decent black people the normal protection of the law. The resulting lack of protection encourages the belief that the police and legal system do not care about or protect black people, thus explaining all the crime. Nice cycle.
But the root of much contemporary crime is cultural dysfunction caused by the breakdown of the black family caused by welfarism and related “liberal” policies, plus failed schools and sclerotic courts. Mental illness definitely plays a role, since unparented progeny tend to become sociopaths.
That sounds like the nightly news in Albuquerque with Carla (roll the R) Aragon.
The overwhelming majority of this crime and violence can be traced back to one thing: illegitimacy. 72% of black children are now born illegitimately and raised by a single parent.
But you will not find a single black “leader” who says that marriage can solve these problems. Yet it really is that simple.
With every other factor being identical: where they live, their level of poverty, level of education, etc. If you compare two children, one born and raised in a family with both a father and a mother; and one born and raised by a single parent, the former is the one who is likely to succeed. The illegitimate child is 60% more likely to be a criminal offender.
It’s not racism. It’s not racial memory of oppression. It is not that “the system” or “the man” is holding them down.
Two simple rules:
1) Do not have sex outside of marriage.
2) Stay married and raise your children.
Importantly, there is a flip side. If they keep behaving the way they behave now, black America is going to die out.
It may be replaced by African immigrants, but amazingly, they do not suffer from all these problems. And even they can see the root cause of the failure of black America.
So why are black Americans so damned blind to their failure?
Most states, counties, cities, etc. have a most wanted website. Try it, its ummmmmm educational. lol
About three weeks after this went down, the wife and I were driving through this fine town on I-75. (We are truck drivers)
What pops up in the lane next to us and passing us? A nice white, Mclaren Spyder 12C being driven by and passenger seat occupied by a couple of guys who looked like they “didn’t” get picked up in this drug crackdown.
Just hard to believe anyone other than a drug dealer would be driving this car in this town? What type of job would be paying this kind of money in this town?
But what do I know? I am just a poor white truck driver paying his taxes.............for some damn reason.
