The baby might only need 6 to 8 weeks to be viable. Something is not right here. Maybe it’s not his kid?

Not a good story; what type of man wants both his wife and unborn child dead?

“... something is not right here..”

I’m thinking the father is afraid that the baby won’t be “normal” due to the concern of lack of oxygen. They can take the baby in another 6 weeks. Why not wait unless he really doesn’t want the baby to survive?

The best description of “false empathy” I’ve heard was about two soldiers who were friends, sent with their green unit to fight their first battle, just a small skirmish. Both very scared, and neither having seen much blood, injury or death in their lives.

Well, one of them was grazed with a bullet to his head, that knocked him out but was otherwise just a skin injury. But being a head wound, it bled profusely, so he was a mess, though he just needed a few stitches and some aspirin.

He came to when his friend was about to “put him out of his misery”, by shooting him. However his friend could just not bring himself to pull the trigger. So the wounded man leapt to his feet, and took off running to the company area.

His friend, sobbing uncontrollably, took off after him, still intent on shooting him. Right then, their company commander had just sat down next to his field desk, with the company first sergeant, to discuss the map they were using.

First runs by the bleeding guy, who really did look a mess. Then his sobbing friend, waving his rifle maybe hoping somebody would stop his friend so he could shoot him. Without a word, the first sergeant takes off running after the two of them, leaving the company commander wondering what in blazes was going on.

All survived the war.

Agreed. His attitude is not normal.

Cue the posters who will say: "But everyone grives differently!"

People who grieve by killing their wife and child are called psychopaths.

Texas state law prohibits withdrawing or withholding life-sustaining treatment from a pregnant patient, regardless of her wishes.

Would you not want to know if the kid is normal first? To me it would not matter, normal or not I would want the child. But there are some major red flags here. Why is the woman in a coma? Is there proof that it was caused naturally? How was their marriage? Something it not right about this story.

I definitely agree that there are red flags. As for me wanting to know if the baby would be normal or not, it wouldn’t matter. In fact, when my husband and I had our wills done, I specifically had a clause that stated if I was pregnant/and had to be on life support, everything medically needed would be done until the baby was born. What is really a red flag to me is the doctors can remove the baby in 6 weeks if needed and the husband seems to be pushing for the end of life support before that time.

“Texas state law prohibits withdrawing or withholding life-sustaining treatment from a pregnant patient, regardless of her wishes.”

In a sane world that would be it.

Happier times: Erick Munoz (right, holding their 1-year-old son Mateo) says his wife Marlise (left) did not want to ever be kept alive with a machine. But because she is pregnant, Texas law requires she receive all life saving measures

Erick Munoz found his wife unconscious on November 26, around 2 a.m.

Sounds a bit fishy. Unless she was a nightowl who was normally awake at 2 a.m., how would he know she was "unconscious," and not just sleeping?
