The Obama administration Thursday night significantly relaxed the rules of the health-care law for millions of consumers whose individual insurance policies have been canceled, saying they could buy bare-bones health plans or entirely avoid the requirement that most Americans have health insurance.
The surprise announcement, four days before the Dec. 23 deadline for people to choose coverage that begins on Jan. 1, triggered an immediate backlash from the health insurance industry and raised new fairness questions about a law intended to promote affordable and comprehensive coverage.

It’ll be Harvard or Yale for undergrad, then on to law school.
Marriage to a hedge fund one percenter, and a life of progressive political activism.
It’s as predictable as trillion dollar deficits.
And Congress just sits back and lets him get away with it.
Where the hell is Congress?
On vacation.
Obama’s headed for Hawaii...
Afraid you’re right - America is top-heavy with lawyers who should be at Burger King.
Obama’s world view: So let it be written, so let it be done. We have our own pharaoh.
The only way out of this mess for Nero is to throw the whole thing in the crapper. He doesn’t have the spine to admit he and the rats screwed the pooch. So they decide to continually break the laws intentionally so they will be challenged in the courts.
When the dust clears and the courts throw the whole thing out Nero will tell the Low information voters it was the Conservative courts that took away the promise of Free health Care Insurance and they will believe it and vote Rat in 14. It’s their only play if the RINOS don’t jump in and help him “reform” the disaster
The BO administration has decided that people who had their health plans canceled could qualify for a "hardship exemption" from the individual mandate under Obamacare. But, gee, only a measley half-million people who had their plans canceled have not yet found other coverage. Everybody else is hunky-dory. So which is it? Do they know? Are they lying about both situations? What about all those people who were uninsured to begin with, supposedly the beneficiaries of this exercise? Are they covered? Or no?
And
we no longer have a law, or a set of regulations. The law and regs are whatever the Obamoids say they are on any given day. So if you go by the rules on one day, next day, you're a sucker because the rules have been relaxed -- changed. The insurance companies are reaping what they've sown by supporting this total fiasco. We had the best medical care in the world and they are well on their way to destroying it.
Funniest post I've seen today!
So far, there are more than 20,000 pages of regulations.
Now, on top of all that, we have four improvised "amendments" to the act:
1. Delay of employer mandate.
2. Allowing insurance companies to re-issue cancelled policies.
3. Extending due dates and pre-dating coverage.
4. What amounts to an elimination of the Individual Mandate, plus a reversal on the mandatory coverage requirement.
Just what is the law now, today? And what will it be tomorrow? And the day after tomorrow?
This whole affair is a clear demonstration of what happens when incompetence is granted unchecked power.
It was purposefully excluded from the deal. Obama did not want to be portrayed as negotiating ObamaCare. He wants ObamaCare rules established on his terms.
One of these days someone with some cojones is going to do what needs to be done, begin impeachment proceedings.
So the full-on flail is finally here.
This is even worse than I EVER would have imagined.
Enrollment must just still be AWFUL, and dropping off rather than ramping up as they had hoped.
As Quinn would say, “Liberalism has now generated the exact opposite of its stated intent.” Come January 1, there will be more uninsured as a result of this law than before the law, even including Medicaid.
Anyone wanna bet on March 31st, or even December 31st of 2014?
Analogous to the wonderful “monkey with a grenade” image of Bath House as military strategist, the new image is one of Bath House as phlebotomist, frantically puncturing the patient in search of a drop of blood.
Just yesterday evening, at our local good-ol-boys round table salon and tête-à-tête in our local country propane and hay store, we were reviewing possible future scenarios regarding the devolution of obamacare and obama. I posited the following:
1. That if the Republicans would just twiddle their thumbs pretty much about everything for next 3-4 months, obamacare would become so unraveled that the Democrats would be forced to beg the Republicans to save them, and that regardless of any legislative changes that might thereby result in a bipartisan fashion, obama would veto it all, preferring to see the complete destruction of the medical system and the needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, as well as the total destruction of the Democrat Party for at least two generations, rather than admit he was wrong about something.
2. That it was highly likely that obama would soon totally panic over the chaos wrought by obamacare and descend into utter lawlessness by attempting to govern completely by diktat, and that therefore there was also a reasonable probability that obama’s attempted dictatorship would eventually become so severe that Congress would be forced to initiate impeachment.
It would appear that this second prediction is already starting to come true.
International diplomacy deals work this way all the time.
Ping.
