He went from being a private in the Minnesota Army National Guard in 1940 to the highest ranking man in the whole US military. He’s the Army general near the rear on the right side who’s not wearing glasses.

Since he's still in place, can we assume that he is one of the ones who IS willing to order troops to fire upon Americans? I thought Obama had pretty much cleaned out the senior officers who might refuse to do so.

The photo is from the early 1980’s. General Vessey retired on September 30, 1985, several months before the expiration of his second term as Chairman. He was the last four-star World War II combat veteran on active duty and, with forty-six years of service, had served the longest of anyone then in the Army. He’s 91 and still alive, though.
