I’m not 100% sure about attempted murder as the charge, but the charge MUST include the premeditated aspect of the assaults.

I'm OK with that too. An unprovoked blow to the head of an unsuspecting and unprepared victim can easily be fatal. There is evidence of cases where it has been fatal. This P.O.S. had just been lucky no one has died.
I hope for jailhouse justice for this guy

Attempted murder implies intent. It might be overcharging, but it gives the prosecutor some leverage.
The problem is that we punish assault too lightly. Especially when the perp is one of Holders’ people.
