A PLAN tank landing ship:
The USS Cowpens:
Place your bets...
So, take that “funny” looking gun on the front of the ship and start firing across the bow of that POS.
If that doesn’t cause them to back off then maybe an accidental hole or two in the water line of the PLAN would be a rather distinct message.
“Place your bets... “
Depends which one has permission to fire.
Place our bets on what?
How the Cowpens handles its bow ramming the tank-landing ship broadsides?
Good pics.. And while we shouldn’t put up with any harassment from the Chinese, I’m a Texan, and I’d probably tease anyone that named their boat “Cowpens” at least a little..........
“Place your bets”
If a black pawn wrecks the bow of a white rook, rendering it combat inoperable for a year or two, the black team wins.
you’re not going to ram the LST with a cruiser. the captain would be out of command in a minute. both ships would be heavily damaged.
That rapid-fire Navy 5” on the foredeck of the Cowpens shouldn’t need more than 30 seconds to minimize the threat from four Chicom tin cans plus the LST. And don’t forget there’s a little buddy Fast Attack sub running nearby on the Cowpens flank. That Fast Attack can get off four shots quicker than the Commie commander can write “kissmyassgoodbye” in Chinese. If a shot gets fired I expect Locklear can kiss his comfy Chicom-sucking billet to vanish is a spray of bird’s nest soup. Those Chicom cans may not know they are already targeted and really, really shouldn’t do anything dis-courteous.
Starting back in the 1960’s we started fitting our surface ships with a thing called the Countermeasure Washdown System. I helped build the first ones. It works like a car wash for ships. Our ships are made to be fully operational in an industrial strength rain storm. Squirting our guys with a couple fire hoses has got to produce a great big WTF?
Funny how close in ship-to-ship weapons are still relevant in an age of stand-off naval operations.
It appears Cowpens has a 3 to 5 inch gun. That means if you want to sink the Chinese ship, you are likely looking at torpedoes.
Crazy stuff.
As my grandpa used to say, “Never bring a tank landing ship to a guided missile cruiser fight.”
The Red Chinese tank landing ship: because;
* our destroyer is not designed for ramming
* can’t lower the main deck guns to fire below their own deck in the forward position (i.e. blind spot re using weapons at a lower-hulled ship coming at them)
* Adm. Locklear sounds like a coward. When I think back over the Naval Commanders I’ve met over the decades, I cringe at who we have leading the Navy today esp. the cowardly incompetent Secy of the Navy Mabus - (I’ve met and/or known Adm. Radford, Arleigh Burke, Dan Galley, John Middendorf, John McCain (CINCOMPAC, Vietnam war), Secy of Navy Lehman, and Jeremiah Denton, etc.)
* probably no US air CAP for the ship (like the USS Pueblo)
* Obama the Appeaser is our CIC (Coward in Chief)
* The Red Chinese want war and are building themselves up to win one with us. We, on the other hand, are retreating and will soon abandon the few remaining friends left in the Pacific.
* The Red Chinese are already giving vailed ultimatums of choice to Australia and/or New Zealand, and may already own Fiji.
If Obama once said “Yes we can”, he was only referring to our surrender on the world stage.
