Who knows? Maybe he did it or maybe, as I said earlier, they made him on offer he couldn't refuse? It's hard to think of something they could've held over his head to make him plead guilty. Then again, I pray I never have to experience dealing with CPS.

I have to agree with you. I may be cynical, but it seems to me that there may be some government employees who justify their salaries by high profile cases that result in a conviction.
We were in CPS’ grasp in California more than 15 years ago when our teenaged son was acting out. It was horrendous, and I still can’t believe we got away intact as a family. Our crazy social worker would make ridiculous accusations and if we refuted them....well, we were in “denial.” For example, she claimed I was a religious fanatic because I had crucifixes and several pictures of Jesus, Mary, and John Paul II on display. I was just trying to be a good Catholic, but to her, I was cray-cray.
