I’ll never forget the year I walked out to the garden and kept looking around because something wasn’t right. It finally hit me that every last pea had been eaten overnight by the deer. They had eaten every last indication that peas had ever been there. No evidence, no crime.
Had raccoons do that to my corn this year. Peeled the ears off the stalks and they just disappeared. No silks, no husks, no nothing. I finally had to start counting ears to realize that a problem was afoot. That was the fattest raccoon you’ve ever seen, too.
